exerpeutic 1000xl exercise bike review

What we liked:

  • Weight capacity of 300 pounds
  • Dual direction flywheel allows backward and forwards movement
  • Eight resistance levels
  • Handlebars support a full-body workout
  • It’s well-priced and considered good value for money
  • It’s compact and can be stored away easily
  • Almost no noise when in use

What we didn’t:

  • A basic monitor with limited data and not 100% accurate reading
  • It doesn’t have a holder or space for a water bottle or your phone
  • There are a few customers who have mentioned poor after-sales service, however, we didn’t experience this
  • The warranty is limited
  • While some people find the assembly easy others feel the instructions could be clearer
  • The Exerpeutic 1000XL needs to be oiled regularly in order for it to work smoothly
  • According to a few users, it has a short stride and they feel the addition of a workout program would add value

The road to health is paved with good intentions and while most of us promise ourselves that we’ll get to the gym at least three times a week, the reality is often, after a long day at the office, a bad night’s sleep, we’re lucky if we get there at all.

Exercise is vital for a healthy mind and body but it’s difficult to manage and maintain a work-life balance that includes regular workouts at the gym, which is why more people are choosing exercise equipment for the home. An elliptical trainer or x-trainer, as it is sometimes called, is a three-in-one machine that can be used for various exercise routines including walking, running and stair climbing, without excessive pressure on your joints. This smooth movement reduces any impact injuries usually associated with these activities.

If you, like so many of us, are looking to lose a few pounds, get fit or just maintain a regular exercise routine at home, then you need to consider the Exerpeutic 1000XL Heavy Duty Magnetic Exercise Bike. In our opinion, the bike is good value for money, saving you money on monthly gym subscriptions; it’s also convenient because you’re not waiting in queues to use the machine and it’s lightweight and easy to move around so you can exercise anywhere in your house.

The Exerpeutic 1000XL comes highly recommended by professional trainers and is usually one of the busiest pieces of equipment at the gym. It’s ideal for people just starting out with an exercise routine, allowing them to get stronger and fitter at their own pace and is also gentle on the joints for anyone with previous injuries.

The Heavy Duty Magnetic exercise bike from Exerpeutic is a well-priced piece of equipment that offers the same quality, durability, and stability as its more expensive counterparts. It’s easy to use and works on both your upper and lower body parts, tightening, toning and strengthening, all at the same time. The moveable handlebars allow for a full upper arm workout, and it can also be used as an upright exercise bike.

Features worth mentioning

The natural elliptical motion allows for a consistent and smooth backward or forwards movement. The pulse pads monitor your heart rate and the larger, ribbed pedals are an added safety feature, preventing your feet from slipping. It has a weight capacity of 300 pounds, which is excellent, especially given an elliptical trainer in this price range.

Even though it’s one of the more affordable options it doesn’t mean the manufacturer has compromised on the quality and durability of the bike. Features include:

  • An easy to read LCD screen,
  • Resistance levels – the exercise bike, or cross trainer, includes 8 levels of magnetic resistance that you can adjust as you get fitter and stronger,
  • Low noise emission – with a lot of people living in apartments, the noise level of your at-home exercise equipment needs to be considered. There are ellipticals that are noisy, even for the user and while the Exerpeutic hasn’t managed to eliminate its noise levels completely, it’s at a low frequency, which means you won’t disturb your neighbors and you can watch TV or listen to music while exercising.

Where the 1000XL can improve is with its onboard computer, with users commenting that the heart rate monitor isn’t 100% accurate, but this could be a cost-related issue, and the reason the good folk over at Exerpeutic have managed to keep the cost down.

Higher priced machines have computers that provide more accurate feedback because you’re able to enter personal information like your weight and age. While the more simple computer isn’t a deal breaker for us it might be an important feature for you, in which case we suggest you look at getting a heart rate chest strap and receiver.

Would we buy it?

You can bet your fit-bit on it that we would. It’s a dual-action exercise machine available at a good price and it’s suitable for the entire family. Also, because it has varying magnetic resistance levels,  it’s ideal for people who are just starting to exercise as well as for those who want to maintain their level of fitness. The Exerpeutic 1000XL has different workout options, including running, walking and stair-climbing.

It’s safe for young and old, with adult supervision where necessary, and because it offers a zero-impact workout, there’s less stress on the joints than running or walking.  As is always the case when it comes to health related issues we suggest you consult with your family doctor or health advisor before you start any exercise regime.

There are a few niggles here and there, like the 13” stride that can prove to be frustrating for those wanting to take longer or larger steps and the assembly of the exercise machine but overall, the Exerpeutic 1000XL Heavy Duty Magnetic Exercise Bike comes highly recommended by our panel of reviewers and is also endorsed by fitness professionals around the world.

Not only does it offer an effective zero-impact workout, it’s an affordable option, folds away easily, can be stored and is suitable for smaller homes and apartments.
